Ah, it's a nice day off in Dearborn, MI at the Hyatt Regency. I needed this day. Woke up late on the bus, checked right into my room and got settled. Had some fun. ;) There's a mall across the parking lot (carpark to my touring companions) so I grabbed a sandwich with wardrobe Zoe (we have 2 Zoe's on the tour and both on my bus). Allowed myself a tall iced coffee - been good about just drinking water with this UTI (more about that in a second) - then back to my room to do a bit of work. I tried to go for a run but still cannot. My bladder wasn't hurting this time but I had the oddest sensation in my upper legs. So much that it was painful. I wanted to be pissed because I want to be running so badly but consoled myself with the very nice gym equipment that Hyatt's have. So I got in a good weight workout and called it a cross-training day. :) I've just showered and will meet up with prod asst Zoe in a bit in the lobby to go grab some dinner. I'm sure we'll meet up with some others.
So, the UTI. :( After traveling most of the day Fri to get from Pittsburgh to Indiana to spend a couple of days off, I was so ready to go for a run. As soon as I took off, though, I realized I was hurting. Didn't think too much about it. Had a nice dinner with Steph, Britt and Abby then met Trina for a drink at Bubba's. And it was just that, A drink. I was tired from NY but it's now obvious that the infection was also wearing me down. Steph gave me some stuff on Sat and I thought I'd be able to flush out whatever was going on. Had a lot of fun playing the game of Life with Britt and Amber that afternoon and simply enjoyed some downtime with my family. Visited with Trina later that night and we decided on a movie in as I just couldn't psyche myself up for more. Bladder pain continued to get worse and I found I couldn't even laugh at the movie. :( Trina hooked me up with a pill that I caught me blissfully through the night! Decided I'd go to the PromptMed on the south side of Indy so Steph's family got up early with me to get there before my show. As I was leaving there and receiving confirmation that it was a UTI, all the blissfulness medication had completely worn off and I was miserable. Couldn't even walk half a block. By the time we finally got to a walgreen's just north of downtown, I was straight for the bathroom and in misery. Enough that I thought I might pass out (symptons were quickly showing up!) and I decided to lay on the floor. Yeah, not too big of a surprise for you that know me well to know that I would lay on a drugstore bathroom floor!! Ha! My sis took great care of me and within 15 min of getting my meds in, I was starting to feel like I would survive. Still couldn't walk well and the constant urge to pee was present but knew it was all getting better. Finally made it to Conseco (was so excited to be at this venue working a show!) about noon.
As I was packing Sun morning (before going to PromptMed and needing to arrive for our show), I couldn't find my passport and credit cards. AH! As if a medical problem wasn't enough, I now had the stress of possibly having to find out how to get an emergency replacement passport for our Canadian date in less than 2 weeks. Once the pain got great enough, the passport and credit cards became the least of my worries. Guess that's one way to be present and live in the moment - ha. If you can't think beyond the immediate pain, you can't worry about the future!
Touring world - Had a fun 1st production rep. Really like my 2nd production rep. Good to have a veteran female on board in that role. :) And some of my toughest critics are quickly becoming my biggest fans - got to love that. They could've made it a bit easier on me in the beginning, though!
Cool to be in Conseco yesterday. I remember buying Pacers tix for their first game there. Was so high up that no one was behind us! That was back in my Purdue days. Never would've imagined were my journey would take me!
