Yeah, so I was actually sent walking home (aka another random hotel) by myself tonight.  Probably 5-6 blocks, and I've definitely done scarier, but still after I'd pretty much polished off a bottle of Pinot Grigio on my own (hey, it was 1/2 off Thursdays!) and I'm in heels and in a new city.  And why?  For a chance for a girl to score with a boy!!  WTF?!  And then, I calmly say to myself, well, at least I got a nice meal, dessert and a bottle of wine out of the deal. ;)  Heehee.  Ah, life.

Loved being in DC today.  And Virginia, until I got lost in Arlington. Again a positive side - accidentally found the Pentagon from a distance. :)  SOOO happy I started running 3 years ago and have worked up to longer distances.  I know I mentioned it in Mnpls, but it is the most excellent, cheap way to see a city!  I ran by the White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, many other museums and federal buildings and was able to run across the Memorial Bridge to walk through Arlington.  I visited JFK's gravesite and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  Humbling.  And a deep sadness appropriately set in at the sheer volume of grave markers for the people that have served our country, many dying in battle.  So much violence in this world.  Makes the ditch that I started this blog off about seem like nothing.  I can handle that.  I cannot handle that people are still giving their lives for causes that are not justified.  I need to be sure that I am using my time off to make a difference in this world, as well.  I cannot lose sight of that.  Appreciate your help in keeping me focused to that end.

xoxo
