Up at 9am for the trip to Iguazu, we meet Anna-Marie and Tim from Holland who are staying at same hostel (they are on tour for 7 months),also off to Iquazu, so we go together, they speak good english so its easy, bus there, no rain thank goodness, we arrive to long queues, we pay the 22 real fee (each) to enter the Parque National Iguazu
The first sight of the falls is awesome, they are high, there are lots of them, and they are big, we walk the 1.2km walkway through lush vegetation to the major viewing post of the garanta del diablo, the devils throat, which has to be seen to be understood, see the photos
The falls - information of interest - the Rio Iguazu (guazu is Guarani for big and I is Guarani for water) receives the water of some 30 rivers as it crosses the plateau, and above the main falls is almost 4 km wide, there are rapids for 3.5 kms above the 74m precipice over which the water plunges in 275 falls at a rate of 1750 cubic metres a second

(as an extra just met a lady from Northern Ireland who has been working in Paraguay, where the Guarani are from, they are an indigenous tribe, seems like before a big war Paraguay laid claim to most of the falls, after the war they had only one samll corner)
We have spent about 3 hrs being awed by these massive falls
We are off for lunch now, burgers are big and cheap, 4 reals, fruit juice freshly blended at 2 reals is a steal, we have 4, passion fruit tops again, we see a helicopter on the way to our next stop and think "why not" - I have never been on a helicopter, and a 10 min trip over the falls seems like a good first time, they accept visa so the deal is done at 356 reals for 2 of us = 45 each, dip into the extra kitty for this one
Its an awesome flight, choppers are cool, views are magnificent
Then to Parque des Aves bird park, tons of exotic birds in walk-through avaries, lots of parrots, toucans etc very cool, then anacondas, caimans, emus, ostrich, marmosets, cassowarys, also a massive butterfly and hummingbird aviary, well spent afternoon, cost was 22 reals
We gonna go to the market now and grab some chow so we can eat in, couple Skols, nice chilled evening with our new dutch mates, watch arsenal play psv (Oh no, we lost 1-0,but its away so can still get it right at home, Christopher-at least we beat the bogey boys Bolton in the fa cup)
Tomorrow we leave Brazil and cross into Argentina
