The Grand Canyon - A Natural Wonder????????
Trip Start Apr 08, 2005

We drive the short distance to the Little Colorado Gorge which is South of the Grand Canyon. We are very impressed by the Little Colorado River Gorge, it is not over-run with tourists. Along the roadsides are Indians stalls selling jewlery. Their method of advertising is quiet amusing.. along the roadside they have errected homemade billboards "friendly Indians ahead".... "Stop and shop"..... then you see the stalls and just past the stalls are more signs detailing ..
Our next destination is the world famous Grand Canyon. It encompasses a 20 mile drive along the canyon, we are not very impressed and are rather dissapointed with "the natural wonder of the world". We don't delay too long in the Grand Canyon National Park but have a look from all the different viewpoints. One wiew is pretty much the same as the next.
On the border of Nevada and Arizona is the Hoover Dam, unfortunately we miss out on a tour of the dam as it closes quiet early in the evening.
A tip to get reasonable accomadation is either book online to get discount prices (eg hotelfile.net) or alternatively voucher coupon books are freely available at most gas stations.
On arrival into Las Vegas we drive both North and South bound on "The Strip" taking in the world famous sites such as: Arche de Triumphe, Statue of Liberty, Las Vegas Eiffel Tower and of course the casinos... Treasure Island, the Bellagio, MGM, Ceasars, Mirage etc
Once we check into our motel we head out on the town. Our friendly taxi driver drops us off at the Bellagio Casino, where we first watch the amazing water fountain spectacle(every 15 mins), we stroll along the shopping arcade within the casino.. stroll only certainly not shop... shops of Armani, Dior, YSL etc!
We realise our motel is just around the corner from the wedding chapel where Bon Jovi got married.
