In spite of this defeat, their plan ultimatly worked. A few weeks later, hundreds of Texans (given courage and renewed hope by the bravery of the men in the Alamo), rose up against Santa Anna and defeated him, winnig Texas its independance
We then left the city north bound for New Braunfels.
At New Braunfels, we hired out tubes to float down the river Comal for about 90 mins. Basically its a large tire tube with a base inserted and you quiet literally float down the river. It turned out rather expensive as Adeline lost her bandana (sorry cat) and Fergus lost his sunglasses! Some Americans floated down in style, they had one tube for the cooler filled with iced beer and a radio tied on top!
We drove onto Austin where in the entertainment district on 6th street, we enjoyed a few beers in Coyote Uglys. Just like in the film with the chicks dancing and singing on the bar top! The city was literally roaring, with hundreds of Harley Davidson motor-cycles roaring up and down the Streets. A big State rally was taking place and was in Austin for the weekend!
