As the title suggests, today was spent uploading all our photos todate which can now be viewed online!! Delighted!
We´ve booked our trip to Colonia in Uraguay for tom, ship sails at 9.
San Loreenzo V Argentinos
After an enjoyable steak dinner for about 5e we set
off to see the above teams play in a relegation match.
We arrived by coach to the stadium (good job as it
was slap bang in the slums) and got great seats upper
middle. To say the atmosphere way surpassed the
standard of football!! Each team has there supporters
but within that they have a core group who only entered
the stadium after a few mins of play( some kind of protest
against the team/managment due to a very poor run of form),
clad wit streamers, flags, drums u name it. The chanting and
banging is ongoing thru-out the match and although San
Lorenzo were beaten 2 nil, the supporters chanted all
the louder, at the end they hurled abuse at the coach
and club president to resign. We had to wait until
Argnetinos team and supporters had left the grounds 4
San Lorenzo supporters cud leave the stands. Excellent
evening, wud luved to have seen La Boca (another local
team play) but they´re not out until Sun.
Some things to note about Argentina:
1. They are not bothered if u drive wit no lights on -
even at nite
2. There is at least one taxi to every car on the
streets
3. Invariably every eve the streets are stacked wit
black binliners, but people are always
sorting/rummaging thru them, still don´t know why
4. Shops are sorted by street - if u want to buy a
leather jacket, all the leather shops are just off
Lavelle st, a hi-fi - just off Mayo, a gun - near
Raviadavia etc
5. Three course meals, with a huge steak, for less
than 5euro.
