I have been in Foz for a couple of days now and there is not much to do in the town but the main reason to come here is to visit the Brazilian Side of the Iguacu Falls. WOW!! See the pictures but they still will not bring to life how amazing this place is!! This is one of the new 7 wonders of the world. It was breath taking, Ive never seen a waterfall like it - It was huge!! Id have to google it to get the exact figures but I had to walk 1km to see every angle and every view point. The noise was of the water falling and rushing into river rapids was just amazing. This was definitely nature at its best. They had a view point that takes you right across into the Devils Throat of the falls where you get soaked from the spray - a great experience! Today I was supposed to transfer to the Argentina side of the falls and the stay there for 3 nights but there was a lorry strike at the border control so they blocked all cars from crossing
Oh while I was in the falls I did a tree climb thing like Go Ape, zip wire, cat jump and wall climb, it was fun!!
I also visited the worlds biggest hydroelectric power plant - Itaipu Dam. This is one of 7 wonders of the modern world. It is very much focused on sustainable and environmental management which was right up my street! It was such a geeky day and I enjoyed it so much. The dam borders Paraguay and Brazil so the employees are split equally 50/50. In the control room they have 5 employees, 2 Paraguay on one side, 2 Brazilians on the other side who work 12 hour shifts then the manager sits in the middle only work 6 hour shifts, 1 shift is an Argentinian worker and 1 shift a Brazilian worker!! Crazy!! Although they were very hot on sustainability, community work and the environment, they forget to really mention they had to destroy farm land, relocate animals and flood a village out of their homes. Over a 100 people also died in the construction
Finally I'm going t finish with something you just will not believe! I visited the falls with a German girl called Luise (Louise) who is really nice and she wanted to go to the bird park so I went with her....I hadn't told her of my fear because I thought they're in cages so its cool! I got there and it was actually really great, the birds were beautiful. However I then freaked out an confessed my fear as I had to walk through an Aviary to get through the park - yes that's birds in a cage with me in a cage flying over my head, looking at me and walking near me. I was shaking, heart beating really fast but I survived, albeit I walked really quickly!! See the pictures for evidence! I had to do this for a second time which made me nearly sick and I ran through - but I did it. And I accomplished the ultimate when as the end I held a parrot on my arm!! Check out the flippin picture!! Woooooo!!!
So that's all for now folks, Ill write again once I make it over to Argentina!
Chow for now xx
PS I'm a little hungover today from too many Caipirinhas!!
