When I checked in my luggage in Phoenix, my bag was over 50 pounds so after unloading about 3 pounds of trail mix into my carry on backpack, I was free to go.  I don't think I'll be going hungry with my backpack around.  The flight was 4 to 5 hours.  I sat next to a pilot.  He must be pretty comfortable in planes by now cuz he was snoring up a storm like none I've ever heard.
