We arrived in Hainan and one of the ways Sineerat's family had been told to recognize us was by looking for an American girl.  At least my whiteness comes in handy.  There is a number of them that came and we went in two cars to a restaurant.  I ate as much as I possibly could and didn't stop chewing the entire time.  They served me so much!  Cucumber with vinegar, chicken, fish, peanuts, rice, seaweed soup, vegetables.  I try to at least try everything I'm served.

After that we went into the Chinese countryside with Sineerat's family.  There were some small old houses there.  Sineerat's family did some ancestor worship by offering food and burning incense.  They also set off a huge string of firecrackers.  The biggest I've ever seen of that type.  It was to welcome us.  We walked farther into the countryside to see the ancestor graves.  Very rustic with cows and chickens anywhere and people working on the land.  We drove through some small villages to get there.  Very poor looking View of Haikou from hotel.

.  We were also offered some fruit fresh picked off the trees.  I've tried lychees, waxberries, and some others.

We are now at the hotel: Treasure Island Hotel.  Beibei and I are sharing a room and San and Sineerat have another.  We are on the 16th floor so there is a good view of the city.  It's a very nice hotel so I'm happy!

People drive crazy here.  I would freak if I had to drive.  There seem to be almost no rules.  You just drive however you want and honk to get around people.  Bicyclists and people walking are also numerous obstacles.  Drivers don't stay in lanes or even on their own side of the road for that matter.
