Day 1
Arrived in Vegas at around 7am and since it was to early to check in spent some time at the bus station and Macas killing time. At around 9am headed down Fremont street and then Las Vegas Boulavard to the Motel/hostel. Lots of chapels on this part of the boulavard but not to many casinos.

After checking in, opened the tent out to dry and had a shower. Also booked some stuff on the internet before heading down to the casinos at the other end of the boulavard. Since it was a long way to go decided to catch the bus that runs up and down the main strip. $7 for a 24hr bus pass.

Started near the far end at Luxor casino. The statues outside the front of the casino did remind me of my time in egypt. Inside the pyramid shaped casino the egyptian theme continued. Lots of pokies, a few areas for games such as poker and black jack, some bars and some theatres for entertainment.

From here headed to the Excalabur which was shaped like a castle and had a medieval theme. Had thought about going to the dinner show but didnt get around to getting a ticket.

Continued on to MGM which had a couple of lions in a cage and again lots of pokies. Decided I wasnt going to find a $5 table so ended up sitting on a $10 table to play blackjack. Had $80 that I was willing to loose. Ended up winning most of my first few hands and at my best had tripled my money. Should have walked away earlier but was enjoyed the time spent playing with the dealer and other players so ended up playing 2-3hrs. In the end ended up being up $55. Also it should be noted that while you play you get free drinks (excluding the tip). Ended up having 6 scotch and cokes so including drinks was probably up $70-$80 by the time I finished playing.

By know it was dark and the lights were coming on. Wander through a few more casinos like the flamingo, Bellington and Caesars Place. Saw the water fountain show to the sounds of singing to the rain outside the bellington and spent a fair bit of time wandering around in Caesars place. Lots of shops and restaurants inside as well as lots of fountains. The sides of the coriddors were lined in roman looking building and the roof had a sky painted on it. with the lighting, simulated wind and water vapour in the air, it felt a bit as if you were actually outside.

Wandered out side along the strip for a bit and caught part of the Tresure Island casino show before heading back to the bus stop and catching the bus back to the motel.

Day 2
Decided to start at the casinos located at the other end of the main strip. Started at the Stratosphere which has a viewing platform at the top of its tower. Got some nice views of the city but to far from the main strip to get any good views of the casinos located on it. The casino also had some rides located at the top of the tower which I watched but didnt do. Guess having the ride upo so high adds an extra twist to it.

Continued onto the Circus Circus hotel. Again lots of pokies. Seems that they have taken over Vegas. Ended up playing a $2 computerised black jack game for an hour or so and ended up being up $30 when I walked away. Made 5 times my money so guess having larger bets on the hands would of meant more profit. Anyways, up $85 so decided I would play one more time later in the day and give back $60. No way my luck would keep going for all my games.

Continued walking down the strip and went through the Encore and Wyatt casinos both of which had some nice internal decore. Also seemed to have a lot of coference rooms in them as well. Found a few tables to play games but once again mostly pokies. ended up playing blackjack and while I started OK I ended up loosing $60 giving me a grand total win of $25. New I should have walked away when the dealer changed since I stopped winning at that point. Also only had one drink while playing this time so I guess it was one bloody expensive drink.

Continued on to the Venitian which as you can guess had a Venetian theme. this casino a lot like caesars palace in that it had the sky painted onto the ceiling. Unlike Caesars which had lots of foutains, this casino had a river in the middle of it, on the second floor, through which people were taking gondala rides.

Headed out and saw the volcano outside of the Mirage hotel explode with water and fire before heading to the Rio casino. this casino was a short way off the strip but was suppose to have a free dance show. Unfortunately for me they had decided that the weekend I was there would be the weekend tey would be taking off to have a break. Heading back from the Rio to the strip I could see the light from the top of the pyramid shoting up into the sky.

Upon getting back to the strip I wandered around a bit more before catching the bus all the way back to fremont street. Definately a different feel here. More Buck/Hens night revellers and drunks since the drinks, food and gambling is cheaper here. Could buy a frozen cocktail in something that resembles a yard glass for $11. A couple of those would definatley get you drunk.

Main reason for heading down here was the light show on the roof.

Watch the first light show on the roof which was a medley of kiss songs. The roof is somewhere betwee 1/2 and 1km long and has a video playing along the whole thing. Interesting to watch and decided to hang around an hour for the next show.

Wandered around the street a bit and listened to the alice cooper/ ossy oborne cover band at one end for a bit. Not much else going on between light shows since most of the other acts finished earlier. Decided to try one of the frozen cocktails which is why I think 2-3 of those would definately get you pissed.

Watched the second show which included the monster mash song and the coresponding anime video before heading back to the motel and calling it a night.
