Where I stayed
Arrived at louises apartment late in the afternoon to find she wasnt there. Expected that she had been held up somewhere so just waited aq few minutes before she arrived. She had been watching the foorball finals which I had not even realised were on.
Strange hearing a canadian yet not quite canadian accent coming out of her mouth. Chatted for a bit and she mentioned she sees more of me (visited her on passing through the UK last trip) then she does of my sister-in-law, her friend before she had to head out for her softball game.
Nice to be staying somewhere other than a hostel for once.
Left the condo same time as louise headed out to work and caught the subway to Casa Loma
Next headed to the Royal Toronto Museum which reminds me a bit of the adelaide one in terms of the layout, though of cause it had displays that were a lot bigger. Found the Asian exhibit quite interesting and a large dinosaur collection. While all the bones in the display werent origins, it was nice to have replicas of the other bones present since it gave a good idea of how the complete dinosaur skeleton looked.Museum also had nice large stuffed animal and geological collections to wonder through and a smaller section on local indigenous people.
From here decided to walk through town back to the apartment. walked through the university campus, pass parliment house and the town council building to ge to the bus station to collect my bus ticket back to chicago. Wander the streets a bit more and visited torontos attempt at a times square and a few churches. Some nice building around the place but can tell that for the most part its a newly constructed city.
Lots of hot dog stands all over the city
Louise ended up missing her regular run so I could get back into the apartment so ended up going down to the harbour for dinner and then walking along the harbour front. Did a bit of shoppping before heading back. Back at the apartment I had only seen the CN tower showing 2 or 3 colours. Louise swore it had more but when I looked it still only had a few. Ended deciding to look out again on the hour since I was guessing the building acted as a cuckoo clock in that it only put on its light show on the hour. Found that this was the case and the tower flashed a whole range of colours for about 15 minutes.
Today I got the key for the apartment from louise and planned to met her on her way to her personnel trainer since I needed to get my bags and head to the bus station before she would be home from work. Decided to head out at the same time as her and visited the CN tower.
Some nice views of the city but unfortunately the weathers crap so couldnt see as far as I might have on a clearer day. Also didnt go up the extra floors to the higher level since with the poor weather I doubt the view was worth the extra money.Wondered over the glass floor to have a look down. Guess every place needs a gimmic.
One thing I didnt like about this tower compared to the ones I've been up previously was the fact that you only had a 180 degree view since the restuarant filled the other half of the obervatory
After the tower decided to visit Toronto island. Ferry ride across provided some nice views
After catching the ferry back, headed back to the apartment to eat some stuff (since I doubted I could get it across the border) and repack. Headed out towards the bus station and gave Louise her key back before getting my bus to Chicago.
