Where I stayed
Probably lucky I ended up at the Travellers Inn since I ended up having the room to myself for the next few days. Also after the Saturday night overflow had disappeared the hostel only had a few people in it. Nice for it to be a bit quite for a change. Also easier to get on the computers.
After getting back from El Rocio decided to do see a Flamenco performance. Had talked about it with the aussie working behind the desk who was also learning flamenco at the same school as the performers. Not to bad. Definately like the singer. The womans performance also wasnt to bad and the guys accompaniment during her performance was good. Would definately like to have that kind of flexibility in my wrists for karate. The guys on the other hand seemed a bit stiff and the accompaniment by the women with her excessively loud clapping (especially campared to his foot taps which it over powered) didnt help his performance
Met a couple of Aussie girls staying at the hostel who were also travelling 10 months with a similar budget to my own at the performance. Ended up deciding to do the pub crawl after the performance and met an american couple and girl from Barcelona. Ended up crawling into bed around 5:30am after having a hamburger at some pub on the way homefrom the club we finished up at. Not sure why I ended up back so late given there werent particularly many people out on a sunday night.
Decided to do something different today and just wander the streets based on a theme of bridges and parks and with the idea of circling the old city. That is I planned to cross the river and walk past 6 of the bridges that crossed it as well as any parks that might appear in the nearby vacinity. Mapped my path out on the street map I had to keep track of where I visited but dont have it on me at the moment and can no longer remember the places I stopped off.
After crossing over the 6th bridge decided to work my way around the outside of the old city of Seville before cutting back into it and visiting a number of Churches and historical buildings on my way back to the hostel
That night decided to do the Tapas tour which went around to 3 different pubs for a different selection of tapas in each. Think I preferred the tapas here to the ones in Madrid. Definately seemed to get more. Chatted with the aussie girls again and found out that the weight of their bags was about the same as mine 24-26kg. But unlike my bag which was full of camping gear, most of the weight in their bags came from shoes. Seems like one of the main themes for their trip was shopping.
Didnt do much today. Been doing to much hiking and walking so decided to have a quite day and spent most of it vegging out in a park and a little bit wandering the streets and a museum.
Didnt have a bus til around midnight and by the time I got back to the hostel to pick up my bags the place was locked. Guys at the desked had mentioned the whole place was being booked out by some group and so I guess they decided no one needed to man the desk. Ended up having to go to the other hostel and find someone to let me in so I could get my bags
Guess I must look suspicious or maybe it was the fact that I stood up and walked away from my bags for 5 minutes before returning to them while waiting for my overnight bus to Portugal. Guess I must of been being watched on the surveillance cameras since I ended up having a couple of under cover cops come up to me and take my passport which thankfully got returned 10 or so minutes later after they had called it in and gotten it verified. Was curious about why they decided to pick on me but since I didnt want to encourage any more attention to myself so decided not to ask. One guy seemed friendly enough while the other one semed a bit pissed off (guess good cop, bad cop).
