Miami,
5.10am on Tuesday morning and the thunder of Mountain boots rattles JFK departures area. The American Airlines lady books us on a 5.15 flight and gives us the boarding card at 5.00am, leaving just 15 minutes to get through security checks and pelt down to the very furthest gate at JFK terminal 8.

Wojtek in trainers closely followed by myself in heavy boots (not yet broken in), and a completely knackerd Ewa bringing up the rear, do a half mile in record time tackling two elevators like some scene from Gladiators, burst into the gate 36 like a team of very sweaty crack commandos to find we still have 15 minutes because of a delay.

Wojtek pants, Ewas not happy and I could cry for the lack of sleep. The only positive to all of this is that we will soon be on our way to Miami. One step closer to Peru.

Eventually we board and sleep our way into Florida... and after a swift breakfast of scrambled eggs (those who know me, know I donīt eat eggs, unless itīs after 24 hours of 12 hours flight time and five hours of transit, only 1.30 of which unconsicious) at this point I would have eaten my own shoe I was so hungry... after all this, and a fiddle about with our flight plans, we were finally able to take some time and head down to South Beach.

I canīt explain how good it was to be stand in the open air, on a perfect sandy beach, perfect blue sea, palm trees abound, in 30 degree sun, after this nightmare ride. But it was lush. Plus there were bikini clad girls as far as the eye could see... ah heaven.

It was only for an hour until we had to go back to catch the flight, but it was worth it. Definately one to see again, hopefully soon:)

Whilst in Miami, I paid 50 dollars for a Rucksack, and 7 dollars for a beer. 3 dollars for a pizza and 4 dollars for a Starbucks Mocha (funny how this American coffee company in America makes me feel so at home).

Anyway, we missed our standby flight, slept 3 hours in the departure lounge, and finally, finally, finally boarded the AA2111 flight to Lima. A flight, that I have know memory of except that of the chicken curry I flushed down the toilet an hour ago... It came out pretty solid so another Gold Star for American Airlines in my book...

Iīll just write a quick entry to explain that we got to Lima in one piece and luggage intact... and then Iīll be off to Chiclayo...

No rest for the wicked. Oh, and thereīs a hot spanish girl singing next to me right now. I love South America:)
