The Mandore Gardens were gorgeous and just the break we needed after our time in busy downtown Jodhpur.  The gardens were filled with monkeys that the groundskeepers fed as well as street dogs that would eat their leftovers.  We had good fun taking pictures of monkeys without any bars between!
We stayed at Mandore guest house, which we had read about on another traveler's travelogue.  It was a peaceful gated garden setting and our "mud hut" was not a mud hut at all, but a luxurious little room that happened to have mud exterior.  The owner of the guest house also owned a non-profit organization where travelers can volunteer for weeks or months at a time to teach villagers English.  We sat around a campfire and talked with him about his mission.  It was very inspiring and we decided to donate the toys that we were carrying to him as gifts for the villagers.  A small gesture for such a large mission.  We recommend Mandore Guesthouse to other travelers - especially those who have desire, commitment and time for volunteer work in India.
After Mandore we headed to the temples of Ranakpur and finally the city of Udaipur - a truly magical and romantic city on Lake Pichola.
