It started off nice and chilled last Sunday the 14th. We had a little group meeting with our RD (the boss) and he went through what was expected of me and the other 5 coaches for the camp ahead. The camp was going to be Keller which is only a 30 minute drive from the hotel where we met.
As we had a short drive I decided to pop back to "The Baskins" and give them my traditional Welsh Tea towel which they loved. Got my packing done and then chilled at the hotel for a few hours.
We headed to "Dukes" where I had eaten before for some lunch which was nice, I had a Taco salad with steak chunks it was very nice indeed.
After this little problem we arrived at the office to meet Scott who was the camp co-ordinator. We chatted with him until the host families turned up. Gail, Jennifer and Scott (see pics) went with one family. Joel and Rich went with another and I went with Jack Kauser (The Kausers). Lovely family with a enormous house (again see pics). They have a boy called Dean and he was on camp and 2 young girls, Courtney and Trinity. Courtney was on camp but Trinity was to young.
One day we had a BBQ at my house for all the coaches and host families, and this day it was a scorcher
We went for food one night all together but that is pretty much it for this week. Everyone apart from me and Gail have been working till 8:30pm at night so it is difficult to get out and do things because by the time you get home and eat it's 9:30pm. The families understand though which is nice.
One really good thing about the week is that we were given free 30 day passes for a gym called L.A fitness. The guy there was so cool, he gave us these passes and said we can use these all over America in any L.A fitness. He also gaves us a 30 day pass each to pass out on camp and a 7 day pass for every camper on camp. Obviously he's thinking of "sales" I have been to the gym everyday apart from thursday because the gym is something special.
As you can see from the pics I got dressed up a little today for fun. Great idea wearing a wig in 100 degrees heat, sweaty betty to say the least
I am leaving for Denham Springs, Louisiana tommorow it's an 8 hour drive so we are leaving at 10am tomorow, we have been offered to watch live MMA. Anyone who knows me well will know that this is the place that I coached last year and I have fond memories of the place my friend Gary lives there who is the guy i went to Las Vegas with last year.
Anyway i'll write on here once the monster drive has been done.
Love you all
