Inhaler - Since I decided to stay here another week, I needed to score another asthma inhaler. I had brought the box that showed I had a prescription. I knew what the pharmacy looked like so I found the one near The Dolphin and you have to enter thru a make up store and in the back in the Rx counter. I walked up and a young unattractive woman said "(how the hell knows what she said, again I know no Dutch phrases like, "Hello, How may I help you", very common in retailing), So I said in English, "my contract was extended one more week, and I need to get a replacement inhaler for my asthma", now understand here in Holland when you get hired they offer you a contract so I thought I would in my best English use some words she would understand to get a feeling of my plight plus I knew I was in a pharmacy so I thought that she would understand the other part of what I just said.....She did not, so I pulled out the two boxes that I had flattened in my pocket because they were stuck together with the label that showed I had a prescription...She looks at it and realizes that I ain't bullshit'n and she tells me that I will need to go see a doctor and get a prescription and then pay for the medicine. I ask how much will the medicine cost me. She says the she can write the prescription for €15 and that the medicine will cost me €9.40, that's €24.40. for no headaches, Baby sign me up....What do you need?, I asked... Here comes the Dutch answer ......€24.40 she says. Then asks my birthday which I tell her the American way March 31st '68, another puzzled look. but then I watched as she worked it into the European date system 31-03-68. She asks if I need the boxes I gave her, I think not any more...and politely say no. She throws them in the trash......She the takes the Dutch PDR, I believe, looks something up then goes to the shelf and gets a box half the size of what I get back home....I have seen this size before with samples from my doctor...I start to wonder is it so cheap because it's halt the amount of medicine for half the price, which makes more sense to me than anything.....She hand it to me and then goes to repare the receipt...The box says 200 doses, then I open it and it looks just like the samples from the doc, they only have like 60 doses or 100, but never 200. Also the medication here is Salbutamol Sandoz® 100 micron dose. In the US I get a 90 micron dose of Albuterol. I wonder what the laws are pertaining to procuring and importing my medication from Holland? I will have to go ask in the pharmacy I guess...I should also check US Bustoms web site, no disrespect fellas, I do think you are doing a fine job. But I bet they have it listed as to how much drugs you can bring in....If I can't find out before I go I will ask the US Custom agents I see at DTW.
I could only imagine if I didn't have the little 10 day stock pile of morphine that I had. I wonder how hard it will be to get that if I needed it....I may try tomorrow to get it refilled here and see what happens?
So I did the inhaler thing and felt real good about being here an extra week. A good friend of mine is coming out on Thursday. He is traveling the world and happened to headed here after I was to return so now it will be nice to see him.
I feel like a heal.
I talk to my kids almost every day. I call them at 4pm once they both got home from school. Yesterday when I called Molly must have looked at the caller ID and figured out pretty quick that I was still in Amsterdam....She actually started yelling at me that I was not home and I would miss my upcoming weekend with her and Noah...I had just missed my weekend while here in Amsterdam, now another weekend with out seeing me, Molly didn't take it all that well. She was crying and not very happy with me. I told her that Jaimi was going to pick them up and they would have a fun weekend and she did not care....I felt really bad.....Now Noah said no bid deal. I don't really believe him to much either...I fell like I need to do something very special for them...unfortunately their upcoming adventure into orthodontia is not really a gift for an 8 & 11 year old....so I will have to look real hard...Jaimi has some slippers that look like wooden shoes and some chocolates that look like the €5 bills up to the big ones in the €10,000 maybe, I bought the and don't remember, but I thought they looked cool. Well I hope today when I speak with her she is feeling better about it.
This morning I had to move. I am now in room 411. They just changed the web site for the hotel so I can't give you a link to this new room....they tell me they should have a room that a tour operator is probably not going to use, so I may have to move again in three days. I think it's the Absolute Danny room...A fetish room...Hey I'll take what I can get at this point...And I think the bed is up high on a platform and I like that.....So we will see... I then went about my rounds today,...I have been chatting up this dvd project. It is difficult to get to the right people at the coffeeshops.
Today I had to reload my stash since I stayed longer.....I was illegal for a good part of the day carrying more than the allotted 5 grams....Talk about scared...I would hate to get caught as they might send me home early.....But it all worked out fine.
Late Tues. night I got some exciting news. John ran into The Black Crows while out at dinner. Eddie Harsh who plays keyboard with the Crows also play with Sinclair...So they are all old friends. And of course John knows Chris Robinson the lead singer. We are going to do a show from backstage at their show on thurs. Now I have to line up a sponsor.
