Decided to spend a couple of days in Melaka before heading up to Taman Negara National Park. Gail has a horrendous cold and Adam will no doubt get it too :D The last place on earth you want to be with a mingin' cold is a jungle! Theyre pretty unforgiving at the best of times! So off to Melaka we went, for some easy living. Touted as one of the 'premier' tourist destinations in Malaysia, it cant be so bad :D We met a guy called Matt on the bus heading the same way so checked in to a hostel together and had a beer :D
Poor Adam spent his birthday on a 6 hour bus journey :( But we did go to pizza hut as a special treat for him :D
Next day we checked out the sights of town. The old colonial centre, and chinatown. We have stupidly bought a massive chinese dragon head (dont ask why) and a massive chinese basket(again, dont ask) As we arent going to be sending another box home until Bangkok in two weeks time, its the most impractical thing to be carrying around. Added to the 4 glass tiger beer mugs and the huge Tiger beer Jug and the big tiger beer serving tray that were already carrying.....you think we would have learned by now :D
There are some very pretty and very old buildings around here, and it made for a pleasant afternoons stroll. Our hostel has a TV!!!!! with english language movies :D :D :D AND....you can make yourself a coffee! :D Im tempted to stay! But the cold is improving and Adams didnt really materialise....so off to the jungle we will go!
