We headed to Nha Trang for the next step of the journey, still unsure whether we would have the time or inclination to get to Dalat before flying to Hanoi. Nha Trang is a beachside town with islands off the coast, it is a mix of the traditional with more than its fair share of western tourism, including no end of dive shops and restaurants. We arrived here around 6:30 (getting dark) and got to a new guesthouse on the main backpacker strip recommended by a moped driver, I got a lift on the back whilst Adam jogged alongside (with his heavy rucksack :-) we got there and it was full and our original choice 5 doors down was also full but we went next door and got a nice guesthouse in the end anyway - so all good.

We then proceeded to the main restaurant area for dinner and wandered around for about an hour until we settled on a seafood restuarant as Adam wanted to reinact the previous seafood experience of Mui Ne. His seafood platter was ten times the price of my simple veggie fried rice that i finished before his even arrived (hungry). Once his dish arrived the girl on the next table seemed very unhappy and looked like she was going to throw up over her boyfriend, she proceeded to cry and they paid and left. Adam got a little nervous about eatting twenty different kinds of shellfish but managed it and he remains happy and alive :-) I think the western girl either drank too much or the boyfriend upset her.

The follwoing day we went to one of the recommended sights/acitivites here - the mud baths/hot springs. hired another moped and went on our way, the place was pretty empty when we arrived and you were taken through the cleansing ritual of the baths. This started with a mineral shower and then into the bath tubs which were filled with muddy water supposedly rich in minerals aiming to help diseases such as rhumatism and skin disorders indluding leprosy?! From here it was into the sunshine to 'bake' and then back to the showers. From here we went to the hydrotherapy jets which really stung - but left us very clean and then finally to the mineral hot tubs - and i mean hot, must've been about 60oC! Lazing about in and out of the baths as it was damn hot we ventured down to the pool areas and waterfalls all of which were sourced from the local hotsprings and were around about 38oC which was awesome. The only thing that was missing was a plunge pool which would have been very welcome. The rest of the day was spent around the town looking at some old ruins and then visiting the north beach at Mui Ne which wasn't as good as the one right outside our room! In the evening we decided on booking a day long boat tour to the local islands with a tour company called Mama Linhs. Basically a booze cruise with some snorkeling and touted as great fun.

We set off for the boat early morning and arrived at the dock. This week being the start of vietnamese holidays and European holidays well under way there were hundreds of people at the dock. We eventually found our boat along with the other

park and beach front resort. Got very drunk
