Well one place i knew had to be there was McDonald's. Sure enough this is one place an American will not pull down unless it is to make a bigger one
The rest of the trip was very uneventful. It was a straight road all the way into Myrtle beach. One thing notice was that a few miles from the state border a lot of signs for fireworks. Big huge billboards telling you to get the best fireworks in the state here. It was only when i asked someone about it i found out it is illegal for a member of the public to buy and let of a firework in North Carolina. What a bizarre rule. So i asked what happens on 4th July, but they said they had them then but it had to be at a organized event with a proper company doing the fireworks. Even sparklers could not be brought.
So i found my hotel and the view was great. I f i strained my head enough out of the window and looked carefully between 2 hotels i could make out the beach. That is what i call a sea view..Well it was time to eat and since i was boycotting a certain restaurant i decided to eat in a proper restaurant tonight
The last few days had caught up on me so i decided to have a lazy morning in bed and watch some TV. I managed to watch the whole series of Bear Gryls born survivor or over here its called Man vs Wild. I wonder if they knew it was all faked. By this time my belly was rumbling so i ventured out to get some food. Seen as that company was off limits i just went for a good old pizza to take away. Now pizza's over here come in 2 sizes. Large or large enough to feed a small 3rd world country. So i ordered the later one and it cost me $15 or £7.50. That pizza was so big it must of cost more to make than sell and when u ask for extra something on it they don't just chuck a few extra toppings they cover it till you cannot see the pizza
It was just as i expected it . A large white castle with a moat inviting you to step back in time to experience life in the medieval times. All the food was served on metal plates with goblets for cups and you were served by wenches ( that is how they were introduced ) who just dumped food on your plate when you wanted more chicken or spare ribs. Who ever invented this idea had hit upon every boys dream fighting and food and wenches all under the same roof.
As for the fighting it was brilliant. It was set against a lame story but these guys did not hold back. For 2 solid hours they just kept jousting, sword fighting and beating each other up. Every area was split into colours and you had your own knight to cheer on. Oh the Americans loved this. They were all shouts and cheers and lots of whoop whoop . I did find myself letting myself go and banging my cups and shouting for more. Sparks would fly when metal would clash, wood would break when the joust would crash against the shields
Well the night was over and it was time to drop the roof and drive down the strip to my hotel with a bit of Wham and S Club 7 blaring out. Adam has hit the town.
On Sunday i start my journey into the heart of America and head towards Greenville. So far i have hugged the coatline. Now i am going to start seeing the real america and hopefully find a town that has a population all related to each other.
