Well it all started off at 4am with the journey to the airport.I had my In-laws take me to the airport which in its self was going to be a trip on its own. Richard kept pointing out about what happened in the films The hills have eyes and Texas chainsaw massacre.Great !!! Sandra was more excited than i was and i just sat on the floor with less than an hour to leave finally starting to pack.

Well finally we were off. No traffic on the way so we got to heathrow in no time.Picked up the signs for Term 4 but Richard said it was another way under a tunnel. OK i trust him why not he said he had been this way before. Only for us to find out that was 30 YEARS AGO !!!!!!! So on came the sat nav and that took us to the wrong terminal. So we had to use the MK 1 version which was follow the signposts.

Check in was OK no problems as i had already checked in on-line so it was just a case of dropping my bag of and ask nicely if it could follow me unlike Cyprus last year when it took a couple of days to turn up. Before u knew it i was on the flight and taking off. The flight was uneventful as usual. Food was shit, watched a couple of new films but cause i spent a few extra pounds i did not have to sit with my legs round my neck in cattle class as i was in world plus class. We landed just after 11am local time and guess what it was raining. So no different than at home.

So here i was in America.Everybody in the airport had guns. Even the bloke checking my passport had a gun.WHY!!!! If i had not blown the plane up what the hell was i going to do in the queue?? But it went OK and i got on the free sky train to get to the car hire depot. That went OK and i was shown my car.Exactly the way you should drive across America. In a convertible. No scratches on the car and as it was too wet to put the hood down i left to start the 70 mile drive to the hotel.

Well that was an experience in itself. It was just like the movies. You drive across the bridges and look across and see the skyline of New York. But unlike the movies you just cant stop your car on the bridge and walk up.It was lethal to go less than 50mph. Then just driving Thur the suburbs of the city was bloody scary. Nobody cared they just cut you up or just beeped you all the time. Finally i was out of the killing zone on and the freeway to Neptune. But now i was starving so what do u do when you are in America, you eat at McDonald's. It was the best tasting McDonald's i have tasted. Not due to the fact cause i was famished but the burgers looked liked the menu's.Thick and tasty not squashed and dripping with fat. With the help of Clint Eastwood on my sat nav i got to the hotel at just after 3pm and had now been awake for nearly 24 hrs.

The room was huge like all things in America and looked like the hotels you see in the films. White wooded fronted buildings with parking out the front. So after a quick shower i went down the road to a sports bar i passed on the way and managed to watch the football and have a few pints of Guinness but refrained from making a prat of myself on the karaoke.

Well the time had come for me to go to bed and by the time my head hit the 600 pillows in my bed i had been up for about 28 hrs. Tomorrow i drive down to Alexandria, Virgina.
