I've been in class for two weeks now and it is already pretty rigorous. They are immensely challenging and its going to be a long semester with tons of work, but I know it will be worth it. I know you are all anxiously wondering so here it is- my schedule: Modern Standard Arabic III, Egyptian Colloquial Arabic II, Contemporary Issues in the Middle East, International Development in the Middle East and North Africa, and Islam and Politics.
Hence no blog writing- BUT in the meantime I found this video clip that depicts EXACTLY what crossing the street is like in Cairo. Seriously, it's unexplainable. It is why my walks to school every day are rather stressful and take about a half hour- I have to cross the street about 4 times in rushhour- pretty scary and exhilerating at the same time. I'm not gonna lie- my toes have almost gotten run over numerous times and sometimes I have to stand in the middle of the street and suck in and remain immobile while two cars zoom pass on either side of me- I'm slowly becoming more and more aggressive- once you decide to cross- you cross, no stopping. This city is sincerely crazy and so are the cars- but definitely makes for an adventure every single morning at 8am :)

Imagine the man with the briefcase is blond and carrying a bookbag- that's me! :)

Ann, that traffic is nuts! Especially without the crosswalks. You need to cross the street a 5:00am before rush hour and sleep in the library til class starts. Otherwise you should be at an advantage blonde hair and a red UC sweatshirt you could look like a walking stop sign. Classes sound a bit out of the ordinary but I am sure you easily make honors. Good Luck! Happy V-Day. Love,
