Where I stayed
2. We had ceremony with Jorge in the lower level of his hotel where there are Incan ruins still part of the structure. He also gave us each a chakana necklace made of travertine stone from the mountains & explained its geometrical significance. We blew prayers (via our breath) into coca leaves & burned them in the fire which carries them into the cosmos. The walking tour was very interesting & gave us a little workout in the high altitude. We walked to the main plaza & were dismayed to see a Starbucks & a MacDonald's. Although, the logos were fairly discreet
3. The welcome dinner was delicious. It started with a quinoa soup. Yumm! The main course was a trout from the high lakes around the Lake Titicaca region, served with vegetables & a fruit salad for dessert. We also followed our meal with an Anise tea, which is supposed to aid in our digestion. Jorge said our digestive system is slower & not as efficient while our bodies adjust to the altitude. The good news is that all of us are adjusting w/o illness.
We will get to learn to make the quinoa soup from locals when we are in the Lake Titicaca segment of our journey.
Good night everyone & everything!
