This morning we got up and took the tramway to the Old Trafford Statdium. Kara has purchased tickets previously but since Kate and I weren't super fans we thought we would wing it. When we got there there were TONS of fans and TONS of police even up to 3 hours before the game. Since we made a couple rules for the trip ie: Priority #1 Don't get arrested and Priority #2 Don't end up in the hospital..etc we thought we would wait on scalping the tickets and see if the price would come down from 80 pounds.
After waiting around for a while and sight seeing around the stadium we thought we would save our money and just chill while Kara went in for the game. Before the game Kate and I went into an INSANE pub called "Trafford" with all these mega fans before the game started
As the game was about to start the pub cleared so that it was only Kate and I left so we decided to head out. We talked to a street vendor who told us there was the "Lowry Outlet Mall" just a few blocks away...SCORE!! So we just shopped and took mocking photos of soccer ...ahem...football players while we waited. It was great and we got lots of free samples of tea and chocolate from the cadbury outlet store! We were even in the food court watching the big screen for the goal by #14 (Hernandez? lol) to win the game 1-0! That was all I needed to see lol, that atmosphere before the game was enough of a rememberance for me.
As we went to meet Kara and lines to get back on the tram were insane! We waited for a long time and our feet hurt really bad. By 5:30 we were at the Piccadilly train station again and headed off to Cardiff Wales!! We found that we can cheat the Britrail system by not putting in the dates that we used it so maybe we can get more train rides out of it than expected :)
The train ride was so peaceful and the views were beautiful! There were rolling hils and little sheep and calfs and it was so nice and different from home. We played crazy 8's and wrote in our journals to pass the time. Soon enough we were in Cardiff and took our first Taxi to the hostel. We were staying at the Nomad Hostel and we just chilled for a bit and watched tv before bed. This day we managed to get in 17,560 steps so not bad! We meet a girl in our room named Alexis and she said there were two Kiwis (New Zelanders) staying in our room.
