Our day for a tour of Barossa Valley. We left on time but ran into lots of traffic in and around Adelaide. Once on the open road all was fine. We only arrived 15 minutes late and our hostess at Grant Burge was not bothered. She took us for a walk outside the lovely old building, where we saw formal gardens, a vine covered courtyard, used for functions. Back inside, Michael had a very extensive tasting, while I went taking photos. I went through a fence into next door Jacob's Creek. I saw the old building, Jacob's original home, where we were hosted to dinner last time we were in Barossa in 2005. Back at Grant Burge I tasted a sweet sparkling wine and three lovely "ports". From there we went to St Hallet Winery where we had an interesting tour watching crush and all the juice running into stainless tank - juice that is destined for Canada once it is wine! We had a great view of the surrounding countryside from the top of the galleys. Back in the wine shop Michael did a tasting, to the sound of British Columbia artist, Diana Krall, singing.  We were then invited to lunch of sandwiches, salad, fruit and of course wine with the winemaker. He was also hosting "interns" who were there on an interactive course to learn all about wine. Then we went to the village of Tanunda for coffee on our way to Peter Lehmann Wines. He, the founder, was a very interesting person by the sound of it. He started the winery about 1960 (?) because the company where he was winemaker became very big and didn't support the local growers. His winery gave work to the growers weho provided grapes for him and still do 40+ years later. On our drive home we saw a pretty lake, the first body of water we have seen in South Australia aside from the sea.. We stopped in at our house and picked up a bottle of Kangaroo Island white wine then drove on to Brighton. Here we had a delicious dinner of barramundi, overlooking the beach and jetty. We saw a superb sunset of which I took many photographs. We walked back to our car along the beach in the dark.
