The contrast between Argentina and it's northern neighbour is unbelievable. Whilst Bolivia is struggling to build even it's most basic infrastructure, Argentina has raced ahead and there are shopping malls and high streets that wouldn't be out of place in England.

My first impression is that people here are also friendlier, at least I thought the Bolivians were at times unwelcoming to foreigners. On the other hand the Spanish is going to make it difficult to have a decent conversation, it's noticeably faster and the accent is not as clear as it was in Peru and Bolivia.
It wasn't easy getting here though. The first bus from Uyuni to Tupiza left on time and things were looking good until a breakdown about 2 hours outside Tupiza. After a half hour wait another bus heading for Tupiza from La Paz came by with a few empty seats, I quickly grabbed one along with Ben another English traveller heading to Salta. Eventually we made it to Tupiza just after sunrise and started looking for a bus to Salta. I'd been told that buses from the Bolivian side of the border were more expensive and we decided to go to La Quica on the Argentine side to get the bus, after attempting to get some cash out from a broken Bolivian cash machine. I had just enough money to buy the bus ticket to Salta which involved a change at Jujuy (a 4 hour wait we hadn't been told about).

Given that the past day has been mostly travel I'll probably just chill in Salta for a couple days. There is a cinema here and we're going to see Inception tomorrow and just wander around some shopping malls - immersing myself in the culture for the next two days!
