My parcel from Sonja for my birthday was opened on the boat. It included some candy, a singing canddle holder (singing happy birthday), some blowing bubbles liquid and a great green tshirt! I felt totally spoilt and so very grateful! Thank you Sonja!
I found a hut by the ocean. As soon as my stuff was in the room, I was striding out in my flip flops, swimming shorts (ahem tshirt also) and flopped into the sea enjoying the warmth of the Indian Ocean.
I found myself a slice of cake to save for later and to use with my candle.
Later that night, I sat at my guesthouse for dinner and joined a young English brother and sister. I enjoyed an Indian chicken Tikka Masala, with plain rice and nan. I bought beers for all three of us and enjoyed sharing out my large slice of brownie, well, once I had blown out my singing candle. A perfect way to spend my 30th, low key but in a great destination.
Next day was my total lazy day. I had a long lie in, swam, ate pancakes for breakfast (yes, lemon and sugar), swam again, slept, read, slept, swam again then had an early lunch and read for an early night.
I went to bed early as I was up early next day as I had hired a bicycle to explore more of the Island. The day did not start though till I ate two more pancakes and a cold coffee! I explored two different beaches, Radhanagar and Elephant beach. The roads are very quiet but quite hilly. I relaxed and Radhanagar beach in the south east with a coconut and read my book a little. I returned up the road to find the start of the hike to Elephant beach. Of course, the hike was quite tough and near the end one must cross a beach like bog! I climbed over a tree trunk to find out it was hollow and went straight through it! Ouch, grazed my knee!! Along this bog, were hundred of crab like creatures, but they all had one incredibly large claw! Fascinating. I also think I took a wrong turn as I had to fight my way through undergrowth and trees to find the beach!! Typical gingerman style! The beach was a utopia. Quiet, relaxing, secluded but so so hot now it was midday. I sat a while, caught my breath and headed back.
I swam and relaxed in the evening, ate another curry and chilled the rest of the night away.
I woke early next morning, settled my bill, ate more pancakes (love my pancakes) and headed to the ferry to get back to Port Blair. I find in Port Blair someone has pinched my penknife, likely culprit would be an airport worker, seeing as I keep it in my side pocket. Nevermind. I also lost my hat on Havelock, d'oh!
I enjoyed another curry, oh dear more and more curries. I stayed in the same hostel, infact the same room.
