Bangkok, Thailand - I'm here again! I can't seem to stay away from this place. Well, the simple reason is completing and waiting for an application for a Bangladesh tourist visa. But, seeing as I'm flying solo again, I've gone back to couchsurfing.

Our flight landed late and for once, immigration took a couple of minutes, not the usual thirty minutes. But, our bags took thirty minutes, I just can't win!! Jodie, Graham and I took the city line into the centre of Bangkok. I got off early as I was staying with a CS called Nong, she lives on Soi 71 on Sukhumvit. A taxi was the easiest way of getting there, seeing as it was close to midnight.

Nong is awesome, has a wonderful little apartment that is clean, tidy and full of her passions. She loves to read, watch CSI and there are pictures and maps of the world all over the walls of her place. She made me a couple of drinks and we got to know each other. It has been a few weeks since I last couchsurfed.

Next day, we went to a large open market in Northern Bangkok with her Finnish friend Mattii and we spent the afternoon in the nearby park with some other couchsurfers who like to juggle. That evening, we ate street food near the Victory Monument and spent the rest of the evening in the Saxophone bar listening to live Jazz. This is the Bangkok I've been searching for and I'm so happy Nong and Mattii showed me the PG version of Bangkok.

Next day, I left Nongs at seven am to; walk thirty minutes to sky train, drop bags off at hostel, go to HSBC in Silom to get cash out, head over to near where Nong live to hand in application for Bangladesh visa, back to skytrain and relax with some Pad Thai.

I've been doing lots of blogging and general admin crap that I've needed to catch up on.

The evening was fun! I met another CS Mandy with her surfer John, from the USA, and another girl from Panama. We ate at a very popular and fun Thai place with amazing food to share. We drank a few beers then walked to the Aussie bar on Soi 11 for some more live music and this band take requests, lots of Whitney Houston requests. Later Nong joined us with her surfer Jason.

You remember Jason right? Back in May 2011, my Hotlanta blog? Jason was the first ever CS to host me and we've been in touch but I wasn't aware that he was in Bangkok till I met Nong on the first night and her first words were 'You know Jason?', no way was my response. It seems I could only stay two nights at Nong's because Jason had already arranged Monday and Tuesday night with her!! Small world eh! It was great to see him and we caught up and then joined the others in drinking beer on the street! How classy.

The following night, Jason, Nong, Gingerman and three others took a boat up the river to near Wat Arun and we ate at a very cool Thai place. I tried chicken feet for the first time. They were pretty good!! Jason, the big pussy, barely tried one and let me eat the rest. The night was fun in places when twice the 6 of us squeezed into a Tuk Tuk! Fun, we went to Kao San road and Jason and I enjoyed a few more beers before he needed to pop back to Nongs.

So, a fun Valentine's night with good company!

I hooked back up with Dave boy on the wednesday night before we fly to Myanmar early Thursday morning.

So, I will try my best to add a blog entry for Dave boy's adventure on his own. I'll take some notes from what he says, try to guess what really happened and try mis quote him as often as I can. So, just a little more patience Mr Brown and I'll blog it soon, though likely after Myanmar.

I'm so happy with my third Bangkok experience, this is the Asian city I wanted to find, not the fat slimy solo guys with young girls, but a chilled out, relaxed and cultured city.

Next stop, Yangon, Myanmar.
