Day 91 April 5th continued - We board the boat and find long enough seats for a nap for an hour or two. I killed my time at the dock watching a young German family with their very young daughter, she seemed the perfect young traveller. The boat ride was smooth but our stomachs and heads were not!!

We arrived on the other side, I said farewell to Chris and Nelson and grabbed a quick taxi ride to the bus terminal. I got chatting to two young British girls from Devon and I looked after their bags while they went to pick up some thing to eat for the journey. I'm heading to Canas, they were heading to Liberia.

It's weird boarding a bus in Central America knowing that you'll be arriving at at your destination in two hours and not the double figure hours I had in South America.

We arrived in Canas. For some reason, from the description in the Lonely Planet guide, I pictured a Western style town, say similar to that in 'The Quick and the Dead' but it was nothing like that. I headed North from the bus station to find my hostel.

Canas is typical rural Latin America. There are no gringos, businesses close at lunchtime and the pace of the town is slow. There is though interest in a sweaty gringo walking through the hot dusty streets with the warm wind blowing in his face! Without much effort I locate my hostel, the place is open but empty. After walking around some, I find a woman and I have a solo room with en suite.I was still feeling pretty poor so great to have my own room, well I shared it with lots of other insects!

Arrive in the room, turn on the TV and watch Real v Spurs. A siesta later I leave the hostel and have a slow wander around this small town. I like these small rural towns. I did not grow up in a big city myself, I was lucky enough to grow up on a small Island, protected from the crazy world of the 'mainland'! I enjoy seeing local people in a community just being themselves and not falling over each other to sell gringos souvenirs, or offer them taxis or just being a pain. In Canas I am left alone and I love it.

Dinner is a pizza, I can't finish it so take back two slices to the hostel for maybe supper or breakfast.

I go to sleep watching some shows from the USA and am feeling better from the hangover.

Day 92 April 6th - A pretty good sleep and a nice lie in and pizza for breakfast, not a bad start. I could lie in all day but I need to get moving. I walk around the town one last time before I pack my bags and head to the bus station.

At the bus station, I have the luck on my side as within minutes of being there my bus arrives. Good job really as some old man was bothering me for money.Bus is heading to Liberia.
