I know you all have been waiting at your computer to receive the update on the happenings of Ms Abby James, but this email comes with some sad news, an exchange student has to do some study near the end of semester. Hence this entry does not contain a travel storey as I have been situated in Oxford now for 10 days that is a record. I wish you all not to worry though as last week (my first weekend in Oxford for 9 weeks) I was graced with some aussie spirit with recent arrivals to the European scene, Steph and Josh who after spending a couple of days in London trekked up to Oxford to live the uni life for a few days, Jess also traveled down Nottingham to join us, it was great to be able to share my life over here with three of my closest friends.
The weekend began on Thursday morning (is there any other way) when Josh and Steph arrived, the day was spent wondering the backstreets of Oxford before heading back to the flat to have our Thanksgiving dinner (tried to convince them it was the welcome dinner, but they didn't buy it), we have a close friend here from American and she was feeling a bit homesick so we went all out, ended up being about 15 of us and of course we were all disgustingly full at the end of dinner, but it was oh so yummy. After dinner the three of us traveled into town to pick up Jess then the four of us went to the best English pub ever, The Turf for a few drinks.
Friday we wondered into town and took a walking tour of the town, it was actually really nice having them all here cause I began to realize how lucky I am that this amazing town has been my home for the past three months. Once again they arrived on the right weekend as my little aussie clan was due for our annul catch up so we went to the cutest little Spanish place for dinner before heading out, it was a great night. Saturday we all welcome Christmas along with the rest of Oxford with the annul parade and switching on of the light ceremony, it is starting to feel like Christmas. For a bit of a change we ended up going to watch Oxford vs Cambridge in ice hockey on Saturday night, it was a good night, with 12 of us from our block going to support Oxford, we lost, but hey we tired.
Sunday was a great day we went to Blenhiem Palace which is where Winstin Churhill was born, it was a really nice day, we got back in time to drop jess off at the train station before heading home for a nice quite night in....Monday morning saw a rush back to reality with class at 10am, Josh and Steph report they left my flat about 11:15am...they were enjoying have a bit of relax! Since their departure on Monday I have been studying quite a bit, three essays and two exams in the next 16 days, better get onto it. Then in the early hours of December 21st I head off to Rome for Christmas...yeh!!! More thumbnails ...
