Where I stayed
Well I have just had one of the best two weeks of my trip so far in Nicaragua. Which I was pleasantly surprised by as I never initially planed to visit this country. As soon as we arrived it was noticably a lot more poorer than previous countries visited, as it is said to be the second poorest country in the whole of the Northern Hemisphere. However the natural beauty and the spirit of the locals makes it a very rich country.
We arrived in Managua the capital, bit of a shit hole really, so we did not stick around for long. When we were leaving Matt and I had quite a large fight with a taxi driver, so we were stuck on the side of a highway screaming away in Spanish to him. However we made it out of that one and headed down to Granada, which is a small town south of Managua
The last place we went to in Nicaragua was San Jaun del Sur. It is amazing, we have been stuck here for a good week. It is on the Pacific Coast, so we have spent most of our time catching boats to secluded beaches or hiring four wheeled drives and finding our own. The beaches or beautiful, they remind me of the beaches a long the Great Ocean Road at home, which is very conforting. We have been doing a lot of surfing, spending all day at the beach, having picnics, wathcing the sunset (which is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen), then coming back into town and usually having quite a large night. Our group has expanded to two more, Nick and Tamara from NY. They are so nice, Phee and I are staying with them in NY, so I am really looking forward to going there now. We went on a fishing charter the other day, which was pretty halirous. We only caught one fish, which I so happened to reel in, dad you would have been proud, those leasons on your boat at home finally coming in handy
We are leaving tomorrow and heading down to San Jose in Costa Rica. Then to the Islands in Panama to do some diving.
OK well take care, love you all!
