Hello beautiful people!!!

From the 18th of July Phee and I spent two weeks in Cuba, which is the most unique country I have ever visited. It was just amazing. My favorite place in Cuba was Havana, where we spent five days. It is like going back to the 1950s, the buildings, the cars, the music and the people. Live music is everywhere and everyone is always dancing. My favorite thing to do was sit in the Old Hotels (especially the Hotel Ingletera), drinking mojitos, listening to music and just watching the people. It is really a hard place to describe, so it may be best just to look at the pictures (even though I am not sure they do it justice).

Whilst in Cuba we also visited some beautiful beaches Valadero and Maria La Gorda. Both long stretches of white sand and crystal water. Valadero was 20km long, whilst Maria La Gorda had amazing snorkeling and diving (I wish I had my license for it).

We also visited Trinidad, which is like a live museum town. The streets are filled with bright colorful houses and horse and carts work there way through the cobble stone roads. They also had this really nice Casa de la Musica, which was good to chill out at of a night.

We travelled all the way up to Vinales, which is the most beautiful town in Cuba. It is little set in the mountains. Phee and I hired mopeds for a few days and travelled to the beach (our bums were so sore and we nearly killed ourselves but it was a lot of fun). They also had these amazing caves here, of a night one of the caves turns into a nightclub, it was pretty good, but something you would think you were more likely to see in Europe then Cuba.

The whole time we were in Cuba we stayed with families in there houses. It was the best thing we could have done, we felt like we ended up knowing so much more about the country and the people. The house we stayed at in Havana was the funnies, you know the movie the Žbird cageŽ well it was exactly like that. The family we stayed at in Vinales were also beautiful, actually the whole neighborhood was, if you spoke a bit of Spanish they would stop and talk all day. Their favorite topics being Politics, Fidel, Che, America and music. Phee and I were constantly being invited into peoples homes for food or a mojito. Needless to say I put about 5kg whilst being there (the food is rubbish).

Any who the whole time in Cuba was amazing, it was so unique, especially coming from Mexico. Not a single McDonalds, KFC, no chains at all, you wont even see a Coco Cola bottle. I am very glad to have seen it before Fidel passes on, as I think it will change and the reasons why I love it so much will slowly disappear.

OK take care everyone, wherever in the world you are!!!!

Lots of love Abbie
