How are you all?
I am great, I have just finished the four day Inca Trail to Machu Pichu (The Lost City of the Inca´s). It was amazing, seriously so enchanting! I feel really strange now, its been such a big hype and its the one thing I had been really excited about and know its all over. A bit of a climax. We hiked for three days to reach it, through the Andes, some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. The hiking was pretty hard, we covered 42km in three days. It does not sound that much however when you reach 4,200m altitude, its bloody hard. Especially as I had Gastro for the whole time, I tell you what, the second day which was the hardest, was literally the hardest day of my life. I had never been so sick
The third day was spectacular, I was feeling slightly better, which was lucky as we hiked for nearly twelve hours. The views this day were unbelievable, you will have to look at the photos. We hiked up to the last pass, which was the third pass and then through the cloud forest. We saw some amazing things this day such as the temple of the moon, sayacmarca, the inca tunnel and Winay Wayna. The whole time you are walking you just get this overwhelming feeling, one that I really kind describe. It was just the thought of walking the most famous Inca Trial, that many Incas have walked before and the whole time you are thinking of finally ending up at Machu Pichu.
On the forth day we finally ended up at Machu Pichu, we were one of the first groups up there, which was great. We arrived at 6am, just in time to see the sun rise and the fog clear over the lost city. It was so amazing to be there, we had seven hours to explore the city. Our guide was fantastic, as he was explaining the history to our group, I could actually imagine what it would have been like all those thousands of years ago with Incas living there. It literally was like nothing else I have ever seen, I can fully understand why they kept Machu Pichu a secret from the Spanish, you can feel how magical it must have been
We are back in Cuzco now, gearing up for a big weekend everyone is pretty pumped after finishing the trek.
We are heading to Puno on Monday and then to Bolivia on Friday, so Ill have more for you soon.
Love Always and Forever Abbie
