What an amazing few days!!! Sunday was a great combo of events.. Went to the center of Kota Kinabalu (KK) to do some shopping and ended up finding an outdoor business that offered beer and amazing massages on the waterfront.. 1/2 hour massages turned into an hour and a half of bliss. We then located the only wine bar in KK and ended the evening there.

Monday we were up early to workout, followed by a boat trip to go snorkeling on Coral Island where there was unbelievable fish and a sea turtle. Camille tickled Nemo (who wanted to come home with us!) and ignored the sun burn brewing on her back. The trip culminated in an accidental accosting of a fat Brit caught on video, check out the attached video, compliments of Andrea.
(Malaysia's Funniest Home Videos - here we come!!!!)

We subsequently decided we hadn't had a big enough day so we went on a 2 hr drive to Klias Wetlands to find MONKEYS, we saw 3 species of primates in the span of 2 hours!!! Proboscis, Silver and Macaques.

Tuesday.. we find JAMES TOH... our new BFF/driver, the best part of our trip so far. He gave us the absolute best education about Malaysian culture on a 3 hour drive to Mount Kinabalu which has been one of the most memorable experiences of our collective lives! We started on a hike thru the rainforest and found a canopy walk high above the forest- wow this was crazy... walking on a plank of wood with some ropes... andrea has officially conquered her fear of heights.. see her hugging the tree after the conquest so happy to be off the ropes!! There was also a butterfly sanctuary where there were more amazing photos..

James Toh said... "let's drive by to see if we can see a monkey on the way." We had very little hopes from the way he put it.. Then we drove up to the Reserve to find we were the ONLY tourists.. we immediately saw a group of Macaque monkeys snacking on mini bananas!!! Around the reserve house.. there she was!!! "Jackie!!" a "semi-wild" orangutan (considered "semi- wild" as she lives in the forest but comes down every once in a while to the park ranger office)... and we were lucky enough to be there! We grabbed some apples and literally fed Jackie out of our hands! Libby almost blew a gasket. of course with our professional photographer, A Smigel.. we have amazing photos of it all.
Words will never describe this incredible experience so we really wont go on trying.. see the pics

Borneo has been an absolutely unforgettable experience so far, and the best part is . . . it's still going!!!!!
~love to you all!
