The first Gulf War broke out in August of 1990.

We didn't know if Oman would be threatened or attacked, but it was a risk that my parents were not willing to take. We left in November 1990 to head back home to Australia.

My time growing up in Oman is one of the most important experiences that I have had during my lifetime and the people and places we had the priviledge of visiting are what has made me the person I am today.

Oman ended up having no involvement in the Gulf War.

I hear it has changed a lot from what I remember - hopefully one day I will get to go back and once again see what I took for granted as a child.
