After all the excitement of Pluto being kidnapped at Cape Canaveral, we went back to Disneyworld for a few more days. All up I think we spent about a week in Disneyworld and we never got to see the whole thing, even though we saw a hell of a lot!
This entry is dedicated to the best part of Disneyworld - all the characters that walked around hugging kids and signing autographs. A large part of our time every day at Disneyworld was spent running up to characters and hugging them and getting their signatures for our autograph book that we got at the gift shop.
I have to say that the costumes and everything that the people wore to be the characters were spot on and absolutely amazing to the point that it never occured to me as a child that they were not the real characters. If I saw Mickey Mouse walking around with that big grin on his face, it was Mickey Mouse, not a guy in a suit. It took me years to grow up a bit and figure out that they were not the real characters.
My father always gets teased about going up to Goofy and saying hello, except he called him Pluto instead. Goofy got a bit snooty and said in a hauty voice "I'm GOOFY!", maybe the guy in the suit was getting sick of people not really caring about Goofy at all. Winnie The Pooh was my favourite because he was shorter than the rest and so much more huggable. Plus he had the added bonus of a honey pot on his head, which is always a good thing to have when you're a bear that likes to eat honey and hug children.
I loved those characters so much and it still makes me smile when I think about the joy that I felt whenever I saw someone to run up to and hug.
