Apart from seeing a lot of really big rockets on our visit to the NASA Kennedy Space Center, one of my most vivid memories is when a seagul took my Pluto figurine that my parents had bought be while we were in Disneyworld a couple of days prior. I cried and cried so much that when we went back to Disneyworld the next day, my parents bought me another Pluto to quell my despair.

I spend most of our time at the Space Center playing with my Pluto figurine on some grass, until the seagull came and tore it away from me. Perhaps if I had been older I would have been a lot more interested in what was available for viewing that day, but a child has no need for complex entertainment, only simple pleasures.

There is not a great deal of this day in my memory banks, except for the seagull who managed to blacken the Kennedy Space Center in my mind. The whole world of space exploration at my feet and all I wanted was to play with a soft plastic dog. However, it is a very impressive place and there is a lot to see and do so I would recommend it to anyone who is old enough to appreciate it. There may have been huge advances since 1987 at Cape Canaveral, but if not - it isn't really an exciting place for kids (especially in the wake of Disneyworld).

Check out the photos with this entry - some of the huge rockets that were on display next to the center.
