About 10km along the coast from Muscat is Al Bustan and past that, Bandar Jissah. Al Bustan is famous for the Al Bustan Palace that is now a hotel and towers over the coast with its enormity and extravegance. The Al Bustan beach is a beautiful stretch of coastline that is as clean and fresh as Bandar Jissah.
Along the way we travelled through Wadi Daiga (not sure of the spelling), stopping every now and then to climb a Jebel (Arabic for hill/mountain) and take in the scenery. The photos say it all really, beautiful rocky country side and beaches.
While we were in Bandar Jissah (a bit further down the coast), we ran into a local villager who had been fishing that day. My parents and their friends asked if they could buy the catch and they cooked it up for dinner - the most delicious fish that has ever been eaten! The pristene tropical conditions of the crystal waters had not polluted any animal that was swimming near the coast. My mother still talks about how wonderful that fish was, clean like salt and full of flavour.
I didn't remember the fish - what three year old cares about fish anyway?
