Seeing as it was the first time I had been on a plane, when we passed through Singapore I slept and was frustrated by the boredom that was the first section of our twenty six hour flight to Oman. No idea that later on I would stop through Singapore many times and even spend some more time looking around further down the path.

The affinity of this moment as I sleepily drudged through Singapore airport with my parents, looking for somewhere to get a drink and wishing that my feet did not hurt from all the walking. My back pack was loaded with numerous things to take advantage of the twenty kilos of hand luggage that I was allowed to carry on to the plane.

Among the marble floors and the bustling noise, I wandered with a parent pulling me along to whatever destination we headed for and drifted in and out of sleep creating a haze of memory for these first steps on foreign soil Singapore, circa 1986

Perhaps I let a part of Singapore get into my that would otherwise be ignored, but in the weak lucidity of a sleepy child, something crept in that gave a strong connection with this place I saw every now and then as my eyes drew open for a peak. Some kind of tender connection forced its way inside of my soul and this passive child became suddenly bonded with the soil of Singapore. The thickening lucid flow had settled to a mild trickle of consciousness, serving to give chance for this child, this inexperienced being, to have a taste of the Asian air that he would breathe many times again before the journey was over.

From Singapore was the longest stretch of being stuck in a plane, direct to the Sultanate of Oman, the capital Muscat and our Medina Qaboos; our new home.
