Our last two days in Shanghai and therefore China!
Aaron got up early to try and beat the sun and went for a run on the Saturday and was amazed at the people out doing tai'chi, playing badminton, ballroom dancing etc on the streets, was great! When Beth got out of bed we set off for a day of frollicks. This was quickly re-railed by a (not) buffet which we got tempted by. However, it was so bizarre; rather than your good old run of the mill get up and get it yourself buffet the Chinese were experimenting with a bring-it to you buffet (maybe so you don't have to take the walk of shame with a massive plate of food, who knows) but needless to say it's quite frustrating. The waiters bring all the tasty food which goes quickly so the only thing that seemed to be constantly doing the rounds was a plate of pig trotters. We'd had some for dinner the night before so didn't fancy them much, there was, however, cake aplenty!
On the Sunday, our last day, we tried to find the French Quarter but found loads more shops again (curse you Shanghai and your endless shops, it's the only thing to do here). Aaron got a haircut and looks less like a lego man and more like a reject from a Vanilla Ice concert, the final, lasting mockery from China!!
On the Sunday we woke up and enjoyed our last tasty breakfast dumplings and got the Maglev train to the airport (no wheels and being really fast brings out the train geek in all, although some people went mad for the pictures)where we waited for our flight away to Japan!!!!

Aaron at the top Bubble
Stuffed full of entrails (probably) we headed off to the Pearl Tower. It's the big willy building that gives you an amazing view over the city. We bought the super premium tickets and went up to the space something or other at 350m high, was great, if not a bit un-nerving (having watched the Chinese builders at work on the ground god knows what they're doing up there). You could see for miles (obviously) as well as marvel at the tourists who had curled up to have a little nap at the top of the tower (how or why we'll never know). At the bottom of the tower was a great exhibition with models and rooms built to show the history of Shanghai, was loads of fun.On the Sunday, our last day, we tried to find the French Quarter but found loads more shops again (curse you Shanghai and your endless shops, it's the only thing to do here).
