Greetings from the self-proclaimed "Paris of the East" - Nestled in the hills of the central Czech Republic - Prague!!

Just saying the word "Prague" makes it seem so exotic. Haha....I know it sounds lame, but it sounds that way to me.

So yes - I have now arrived to my secret destination. How many of you actually thought I would turn up at the gateway to EASTERN Europe? Very few I bet...I honestly had no intentions of traveling this far East before I left for this trip, but I have heard nothing but amazing things about the city from the Europeans - So, I shuffled my schedule around & decided to come see what the whole fuss is about.

I was in first-class yet again on the flight from Copenhagen to Prague - If only British Airways would make that same mistake when I fly home in a few weeks. The plane that we took was also about one-fourth the size of the plane I took from Brussels. And get this - It wasn't even a JET....It was some twin propeller plane that was noisy & shaky - Not to mention it was raining....It is safe to say that I was pretty scared - But I survived nonetheless.

After gathering my bags & hailing a taxi cab, I was off & excited about seeing the sites as I drove into the city. Well...I kept waiting & waiting - but there was nothing. I was starting to get a little nervous at first -- not knowing whether or not this guy was driving me out to the middle of nowhere. But all of a sudden, we reached the top of this hill & it just hits you. The city looks amazingly beautiful!! It was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Even in the rain, the city had a glow to it - Spectacular!! I soon found out that the reason it took so long to reach the city is that the airport is actually about 30km west of the city walls.

I booked a room in one of the local university dorms because they rent the rooms out during the summer when there are no classes. Since the room was dirt cheap, I expected the rooms to reflect that; which in fact, they do. However, the view from the hilltop that I am perched upon is stunning. I'm staying on the outskirts of the city, situated atop the highest hill - Therefore you can only imagine the view of the city I have.

Well, although it is still kind of early, I do believe that I am going to get to bed early tonight. I didn't get any sleep yesterday, and I want to be fully rested for tomorrow...
