Hello again! Been a crazy week here at the clinic so far. Pretty much the same kinda things happen at the clinic everyday, so I thought I would wait a couple of days and share some of the major highlights of each day. We´ll start with Tuesday.

Our pediatrician, Juan Pablo, had his first day here at the clinic. He is pretty much a one man assembly line when it comes to his patients. He starts prescribing medicines to his kids before the mother even starts talking. And you think I´m exaggerating. Juan Pablo is a beast. Granted, most of the medical problems kids experience here are parasites, so that gives him an advantage.

I worked in the Pharmacy Tuesday morning. The doctor prescribes the medications, their helpers bring us the prescriptions, and we fill them and hand them out to the patients. Who needs pharmacy school though, amirite? We handled them medicines like a BOSS. But Becky, our team pharmacist, is the best. She runs the place and makes sure we don´t mess anything up. When you eventually read this, thanks for all your help Becky! Although you probably won´t appreciate my comment on pharm school...

After lunch, I worked with our dentist, Luis. Got to watch him insert 4 inch needles into his patients mouths and then yank their molars right out. He was wondering why all the kids were being so whiney and crying. If he had to stick that needle in MY mouth, though, I`d be peeing my pants. No question.

In the afternoons, the outreach team and some helpers put on short puppet shows for the kids to entertain them while they´re waiting in line or while their parents are being treated. Also, I sometimes whip out a floating card or my magic bunnies to keep them mesmerized. I have lots of nicknames this trip; Señor Magia, Superman (my personal favorite), and Dr. Angel calls me House. Like Dr. House. From the show House. Yeah I don´t see the resemblance either, but it´s a compliment I suppose.

Angel is one of my favorite people. Ask anyone else on this trip. Everyone loves to work with him and he is the coolest guy.

After our clinic and gospel meeting, Jacobo took some of us (Me, Jacob, Alex, Julia, Angela and Andrea) out on the town again to get some Peruvian ice cream. Jacob got the flavor Mejores Blanca, and I never want to eat another flavor of ice cream ever again after I tasted that. Julia got coconut and that was amazing also. We were also entertained by a man and his drums who showed up out of nowhere to sing La Bamba to us. That was the most American I´ve felt this whole week.

That´s all for today! Milly was able to help me get all the pics up so far so go back and check them out! Adiós amigos!
