Now that I have my luggage (one piece arrived the following day, the other later that night) and have successfully withdrawn money from the ATM, things are feeling much better! I am feeling a bit more settled in and comfortable. Clean clothes and money can do wonders for the spirit! This morning we desperately needed some supplies for the homestead (it was urgent, we were out of toilet paper!) so we had some incentive to locate the nearest "supermercado." It took a little bit of work but we eventually found it and got our essentials and a little bit of food. We also went to the open market at Campo de Fiori, which was pretty amazing. It is only a short walk from the apartment and is open every day but Sunday. The fruit and vegetables were amazing, and making me salivate. It felt good to salivate over produce instead of chocolate cake.
The roommate situation is going surprisingly well, although it has only been two days. The bathroom sharing will get interesting next week when we start classes and actually have to stick to a schedule. It's pretty crowded but that's how it works here!
