I had picked out a handful of random destinations that we had not visited before and we ended up selecting the Edison & Ford Winter Estates (http://www.edisonfordwinterestates.org/) in Fort Myers.
It was a beautiful day and we took the Tamiami Trail (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamiami_Trail) from Miami to Naples and then hopped on I-75 to Fort Myers. It took us roughly 3 hours to get there. While on the Tamiami Trail we stopped off at the Oasis Visitor Center (http://www.nps.gov/bicy/planyourvisit/visitorcenters.htm) in Ochopee to check-out the many gators that could be seen.
Admission fee to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, which included the complete Estates self-guided tour, cost $20 per person.
We spent approximatelly 2 hours there, and we both were pleasantly surprised with all there was to see and learn of these two geniuses and revolutionaries. It was certainly worth the trip.
Thereafter we headed home taking I-75 to US-27, with a stopover in Estero to have an early dinner at an Applebees restaurant right off of I-75.
Until next time.
