Day 19:

Our first day homebound. Wow, we just completed this great ride, but we are still quite a distance from home. We started our day off at 7:30am from Houlton, Maine. I-95 ( commences/ends in Houlton (FYI) and the down it to Bangor ( was very nice (not like the I-95 we know from Miami). We passed many beautiful rivers and creeks. I saw another moose - yeah the painted on a road sign kind  :o)  but I did see one deer and a handfull of wild turkey along the interstate.

A3 C14 odometer reading 10958 miles. Again we forgot to record Rusty's.

We arrived at Bangor Motorsports ( at 9:30am, and they had me out by 11:15am. "Luke" had ordered a Michellin CT2 tire for me after I called him yesterday, and it was delivered by UPS 10 minutes after I arrived at their shop. How is that for timing? I had an oil change done, my rear break light adjusted (it kept staying on every time I engaged it), and I ended up replacing the rear tire, which had survived ove 11,000 miles (not bad for a motorcycle tire). The service I received at Bangor Motorsports was top-notch. Thanks guys !!!!

As my bike was being serviced Rusty took off to his BMW motorcycle shop "Street Cyles" (, which was two hours further south in the town of Falmouth. We were extremely fortunate that as I approached Rusty's exit off of I-295 he was just getting on the on-ramp. So we wasted no time waiting for one another as each of our bikes got serviced.

As we kept riding south we crossed over into New Hampshire and then into Massechusetts where we took what seemed to be an endless maze of highways to get to the town of "Southwick" ( where my friend Karen resides. We arrived at her home at 6pm. I can't believe that it has been 14 years since we last saw each other. Karen looks better than ever and I am very happy to find her doing so well. While I did not have the chance to meet her two kids who were away visiting with their dad I did get to meet two of Karen's other baby's; Emma and Willie  :o)    (check the pics).

Karens parents (Eddie and Verna) joined us for dinner; they looked great. Karen and Verna really spoiled us. We had magnificent steaks and salad, and a fabulous peach cobbler dessert. Oooooooo and let me tell you about the blueberries. Verna brought a large dish of blueberries that lasted all of .... maybe 10 minutes, and then she handed Rusty an I each a container filled with blueberries to take with us on the road.  Verna - THANK YOU very much for the blueberries - they were delicious, but I regret to inform you that they only lasted for another 10 minutes after you left  :o)    Karen - THANK YOU for your hospitality. It was so nice seeing you again. Hey ..... don't forget to send me the invite ..... enough said !!!!  :o)

We rode a grand total of 450 miles today and these are the roads we took:,+maine&daddr=42.068729,-72.783394&hl=en&geocode=&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=14&sll=42.062484,-72.778244&sspn=0.022112,0.035706&ie=UTF8&z=14
