Day 18:
A3 C14 odometer reading 10519 miles Rusty 1200Rt odometer reading 31916 miles The alarm clock went off at 6am, as agreed, but we did not leave till 11:15am. Rusty woke up feeling dizzy and had to go worship the porcelain god a few times. At around 9:30am we went for breakfast, but Rusty could not eat anything, and then we just took a walk around the exterior of the motel (http://motelletransit.com/english/english.htm) so he could get some fresh air. Rusty claims he probably got food poisoning, but I think his body is just telling him that it has had enough and needs a break. Rusty also has not been able to sleep well the last few nights, so I believe he just needs a break. I suggested we just spend the day in Montreal so he can relax and take it easy, but he was not happy with our motel and at 11am said "lets go".
The ride eastward on highway 20 was fantastic. Great weather, little traffic, and nice scenery. But, as soon as we turned southbound the rain came down on us ..... again !!! :o( It rained on us today for the final 5 hours of our ride. OK folks ... here it comes ................ WE DID IT !!!!! We completed the Four Corners Tour !!!!! We arrived in Madawaska, Maine (http://www.townofmadawaska.com/), at 5:45pm. We rode 326 miles from Montreal to get there. We again did our obligatory photo shoots (CITGO gas station, a local motel, local USPS, and the Four Corners Memorial Park) and mailed our entry forms. We were really impressed with the Four Corners Memorial Park (http://madawaskafourcorners.org/); it was really nicely done, and for those riders who opted to do so you can purchase a "memory block" with your name engraved in it that gets placed there for all to see. Rusty and I decided we will do so as well.
We had hoped to end our day on the eastern coast of Maine, about an hour from Bangor, where our Aunt Vivienne (my moms sis) is staying, but due to weather and my rear tire issues we were forced to cancel on her. Sorry tia Viv !!! We ended our day in Houlton, Maine, which is where I-95 commences. We are about two hours from Bangor here. I have a 9am appointment with the Kawasaki dealer in Bangor (http://www.bangormotorsports.net/) tomorrow so we will be up at 6am and on the road by 9am. While I am having my bike serviced Rusty is going to ride about an hour further south and have his bike serviced at the nearest BMW shop (http://bmw.streetcycles.com/home_bmw.asp). We will then meet somewhere after both bikes have been serviced and make our way to Southwick, Massechussets, where I will finally get to see my long time friend "Karen". We have not see in each other in years, so I am really excited that I will be seeing her tomorrow. See you soon Karencita !!!! :o)
I forgot to look up the total miles we rode today, but I believe it to be around 430 miles. I will double check tomorrow morning and correct this entry at the next possible moment. In the meantime from when we started our ride (in Miami) till Madawaska, Maine, we rode a grand total of 9438 miles !!! Wow !!!
