Day 17:

Well....... what a day. It did not turn out as planned. We had hoped to make it all the way to Madawaska, Maine, and we could have had it not been for the rain we got in Pennsylvania, New York and Canada, and the horrible traffic we encountered in Montreal.

A3 C14 odometer read 9837 miles.
Rusty 1200RT odometer read 31255 miles.

We started the day off at 6am - that is when we hit the road out of Ashland, Ohio (http://www.ashland-ohio.com/). Again I found my rear tire with low pressure (27 psi) so we stopped at the nearest gas station, filled her up, and off we went. The pressure holds fine when I am riding; it is just when it stands still that it seems to loose pressure. Have not figured it out yet.

We made our way through Cleveland, OH, then Erie, PA, (missed the border crossing into PA), Buffalo, NY, (we opted not to divert to Niagra Falls - been there done that - (http://www.niagarafallsinfo.com/)), Rochester, NY, Syracuse, NY, and then finally past Thousand Island where we crossed into Canada. The Customs officer was amused with our story of what we were doing - and simply said "good luck" and let us on our way.

For whatever reason I had thought that the entire ride from Ashland to Madawaska was to take no more than 9 hours, but it turns out it is a 16 hour ride.  Ooopppssss  :o)

We ended our day at 8pm at a little Mom & Pop motel on the eastern outskirts of Montreal (The Transit Inn). I can honestly say that I am beat. Today I wished I was home already. The weather we have experienced in the past 48 hours (rain, winds, cold) has been less than appealing. Well, now I will take a shower and hit the sack early. Tomorrow we plan to leave around 7am, and we anticipate the ride to Madawaska will take us around 5 hours (depending on traffic through Quebec). Our goal is to make it to South-Eastern Maine (somewhere around Bangor I believe) and spend the night with our aunt Vivienne (my moms sister). Let me leave it at that for now incase plans change enroute.

That's all I have for you today amigos. We rode a grand total of 682 miles today.
