I felt like I was watching the clock in 24 today ... 3 o'clock flight ...
At 1pm we, mum and I, took the M60 bus across Harlem towards La Guardia. 1:30 we relied the garment bag with my cloths for the wedding was still at home!!! Got a livery cab, driver on drugs and driving in the wrong direction, and headed back home. Arrived at 1:50. 1:55 with all bags this time get a good yellow cab with a nice Jamacan driver and headed back out. 2:20 arrive at check in, thank driver and give big tip. 2:30 realize that we're on a code share and are in the wrong terminal. 2:40 run to the right terminal. 2:50 cut two lines of 100 people each and fly through security. 2:55 arrive at airplane as they call our names for the last time over the PA system.

The rest of the day is much better. My sister came in from the airport with an Iraqi Kurd for a driver. She spoke to him in Arabic and he wouldn't let her pay. We met the bride's godmother at the hotel and later discovered her cab driver, an Iraqi Kurd who she'd struck up a conversation with, was a cousin of Penny's driver. It's Middle America out here and I'll be perfectly honest - between the Iraqi Kurdish cousins and my driver (first name Mohammed) - when I think Middle America I dont think Middle East. I guess they've just got s monopoly on all cab services nation wide ... someone should look into how that happened. Fortunately everyone else here lives up to my stereotype more or less - generally white conservative republican (except for the Catholic priest who'll be performing the ceremony ... strange huh?)
