Peaks to Desert Day 25/26- Santiago
And that's that, our 26 day Tucan tour was over. In the end I guess we should be kinda grateful to Kumuka for going broke, because without them we would not have had the amazing time on our Tucan tour and met the wonderful people we have.
Two married buddies are out drinking one night when one turns to the other and says, "You know, I don't know what else to do. Whenever I go home after we've been out drinking, I turn the headlights off before I get to the driveway. I shut off the engine and coast into the garage. I take my shoes off before I go into the house, I sneak up the stairs, I get undressed in the bathroom. I ease into bed and my wife STILL wakes up and yells at me for staying out so late!"
His buddy looks at him and says, "Well, you're obviously taking the wrong approach. I screech into the driveway, slam the door, storm up the steps, throw my shoes into the closet, jump into bed, rub my hands on my wife's ass and say, 'How about a blowjob?' ....And she's always sound asleep."
A Baker Abroad
Thursday morning comes and it's time to take a quick cab and then our last 6hr bus ride from La Serena to Chile's capital Santiago. We arrived in Santiago mid afternoon, eventually checked into our hotel after some drama with rooms not being ready and key cards not working but it got sorted in the end. No thanks to the less than useless staff at the front desk. We headed off for our last orientation walked around the city of Santiago taking in the pedestrian malls and main square before heading back to the hotel to relax and get cleaned up for our final group dinner as a Tucan family. We met in the reception at 8pm and jumped into cabs from Downtown to the Bellavista area of town. We had a lovely meal at one of the restaurants before heading across the road to a karaoke pub to continue the festivities. Of course as with any karaoke bar there was terrible singing, too much drinking, plenty of good craic and laughs a plenty. We paid up our tab and moved on as the girls wanted somewhere to dance. We ended up at a club and before you know it we had a line of very large tequila shots in front of us. Not the best decision but we all know bad decision make great stories. From what we can collectively piece together we called it a night around 330am jumping a can back to our hotel. From there the nights took some interesting turns and I'll leave it at that. Morning arrived and we pieced our lives, clothes and belongings back together ready to check out of our hotel. Having said our goodbyes the night before to most people as they were heading off earlier than us in the morning to catch flights we checked out and carried our gear 6 blocks to our new hotel. Our room was not yet ready however they had a less nice room available so we took it and it turned out to be a perfectly nice hotel room. This is where we remained for the rest of the day having room service, knocking over the mini bar, napping and even eating dinner at the hotel restaurant. Considering the night we had had, we were lucky to achieve that much. We watched some movies, did some facebooking and hit the pillow around 10pm.
