A relaxing and entertaining introduction to Lima and Peru. With a belly full of food we hit the pillow early with our alarms set and cameras charged.
No joke for this one, the world around us gives us more than enough reasons to smile :)
A Baker Abroad
We arrived in Lima and eventually made it through customs, got a cab and got to our hotel around 1am. We hit the pillow around 3am with no aim to be up particularly early that morning. We rose around 10am, checked out the map of downtown Lima that our concierge had given us and decided to head down to the main square to check our the palace and a few churches. When we arrived at the square we were greeted with a crowd of people and soon realised that some sort of parade was about to start. We still have no idea what the parade was for but the crazy costumes, dancing and music was very entertaining. After the parade finished we continued our wandering through downtown Lima checking out a few more churches, getting some money and some lunch. We had a lazy remainder of the day as we had a 4am start to look forward to on Sunday for our day trip south of Lima.
