Sunday meant making our way back to salt through the unesco heritage site of Humahuaca Gorge an enjoying many amazing photo opportunities. We also stopped at an Incan ruin site before slowing making our way back down to salta around 8pm. A thoroughly enjoyable and tiring first two days touring the Jujuy region. We hit the pillow reasonably early, around 11, ahead of a 7am pick up on Monday to do our two days touring the Salta region south of the city of Salta.
You know the worst thing about finding out you have Alzheimer's....it doesn't just happen the once.
A Baker Abroad
With an early start we headed north on the first leg of our tour of the north ultimately heading towards the Jujuy region. On Saturday our route took us along the same path as the Train to the clouds with our first stop in the small town of Campo Quijano and then onto Quebrada del Toro. We enjoyed stunning views of the valleys, gorges and mountains as we continued our climb towards the Andes. We then made our way to the pre-Incan city of Santa Rosa de Tastil before moving onto the small village of San Antonio de Los Cobres to eat some llama stew and more delicious empanadas. From there we made our way to the Great Salt Flats for some great photo opportunities. From here we made our way to the town of Purmamarca where we would spend the night. This is where I took the attached pics whilst eating breakfast on Sunday waiting for our guide to pic us up.
